"No Wai Koe Moko?" Patangata te Maunga tapu, Waikohu te awa i rere atu ki Oneroa Te Aotaki te tangata. Raurimu te papakainga o nga matou tipuna, Onepoto to Ukaipo, Ko Taikarere Onepoto Martin awau.
"From Who's Waters Do You Flow Grandchild?" Patanga is the sacred mountain, Waikohu is the river that weaves out to Oneroa Beach, Te Aotaki is the chief, Raurimu is the homestead of my elders, Onepoto is where I was breast fed at night by my mother. I am Taikarere, Onepoto Martin. (Words are written by his grandmother)
"No Wai Koe Moko?" was commissioned by a grandmother to celebrate the birth of her first grandchild. It is a pictorial image of his Whakapapa so that he understands the importance of having a place where he belongs.
A stunningly beautiful area on New Zealand's East Cape. Onepoto (meaning "short Bay" is in the foreground and is also known as Horseshoe Bay. Hicks Bay (also known as Wharekahika) is the further away bay.
